Bamber Delver is one of the Dutch authorities on media literacy. In fact, he was the very first Dutch to talk and write about youth & internet. He started in 2000, when hardly any kid was connected in the Netherlands. Bamber predicted the fast developments while talking with kids. He listened to their needs and wishes about media. According to him, the only reason kids do nót use new media is because media technology doesn't evolve quick enough…
Bamber is author of several publications and books on media literacy topics, such as digital bullying, advertising, safe internet, transmedia storytelling and sexualization of media.He co-founded www.medialiteracynetwork.org. His last book The Wifi Generation www.wifigeneration.orgabout children on the mobile internet, was published in November 2009. He is a keynote speaker at international congresses and debates, is involved in different governmental think tanks, and is columnist in several print media.
In 2006 Bamber Delver founded the Dutch Academy for Media & Society www.mediaenmaatschappij.nl,a highly respected educational institute for media literacy trainings and workshops for professionals. In 2007 Bamber Delver developed the highly successful post graduate National MediaCoach Training www.nomc.nl for teachers, librarians and youth workers.
Bamber Delver is an influential force in his country when it comes to youth and media. His ideas are followed massively. In 2006 Dutch ict & education Kennisnet decided to launche Bamber's material on a Safe Internet Certificate for primary schools on a national level. In 2007 a nationwide campaign for parents about cyberbullying was launched by SIRE. In 2008 Dutch parliament decided to arrange a special treatment for 'happy slappers', members of parliament asked Bamber's advice. In 2009 and 2010 he trained the Dutch police force on the subject of youth & mobile media.
